Apologies for the radio silence, but real life interjected but the push to improve safety on North Interstate continues. I wanted to highlight a seemingly small repair that PBOT did which is nonetheless a great first step towards improving safety in this stretch of Interstate.
If you have ridden this section of Interstate, as you approach the split where Larrabee splits from Interstate to get to the Broadway Bridge, there were two gaps in the pavement that went from one side of the roadway to the other, including through the bike lane. Occasionally these would be patched up when the gap got very wide but they weren't dealt with in a way that should fix it. Until now. PBOT did some work a couple months ago that goes beyond just filling the gaps and creates a smooth surface which should be much safer as you ride across it.
Although it does not address the major issues with this section, removing hazards that could lead to a crash is always welcome and I wanted to highlight it here also to show that PBOT has been responsive, although they have not yet suitably addressed the major safety issues.
