The first steps of the work to get needed safety improvements made to North Interstate Avenue was a letter sent by Blake Goud and Ted Buehler to Commissioner Steve Novick, PBOT Director Leah Treat and Mayor Charlie Hales which was sent on October 3, 2014. The letter received support from 6 neighborhood associations and npGreenway and was the result of nearly a year of conversations with various stakeholders. The focus of the improvements are centered around providing safe passage for people on bikes through this section (part of the most direct route between North Portland and most of SE Portland, the Esplanade, Waterfront Park and many places in Downtown and Southwest Portland.
Below is the email sent out to people who were part of the process to date with the final letter sent to PBOT, Commissioner Novick and Mayor Hales. We hope you will add in your support, your ideas, your concerns and your suggestions for how to improve the safety of people using this key connection with North Portland!
